EC Glass High School

Architect:
Dewberry
Contract Amount:
$24.65 M

EC Glass High School is one of two public high schools in Lynchburg, Virginia. Originally constructed in 1953, the 300,000 square foot building had never been renovated. Its 1,600 students were regularly dismissed early because the building was not air conditioned. The complete renovation which included air conditioning was completed in six phases over 36 months. Construction took place while the building was occupied. In addition to renovation, the project included 60,000 square feet of new construction that includes a new main gym with locker rooms, science classrooms and labs. Despite the projects size and complexity, there were less than one percent change orders. The Danville, Virginia office of Dewberry designed the project.
