Novozymes Biologicals Inc., a market leader in the development and production of naturally occurring microorganisms for industrial, consumer, and agriculture uses, expanded their manufacturing and research facilities to the Roanoke County Center for Research & Technology Park in Salem, Virginia. The first phase of the expansion included 25,000 square feet of research laboratory space and office facilities. The 7,000 square feet of laboratory included cold and warm storage lockers, sub - zero (CO2) freezers, five fume hoods, respiratory research space and a photographic darkroom. Additional research areas included a library resource room and a sixteen workstation computer lab. Research will continue to the outside of the building with a 1,000 square foot green house and 40,000 square feet of test research plots.
